Tech Sales Pathway (TSP)
The TSP delivers industry skill-based learning for high school students to extend classroom instruction through a comprehensive work-based learning experience that prepares students for a career in the tech sales industry on their career and college-ready pathway to personal success. In partnership with Talent Ready Utah, the Utah State Board of Education, Davis, Ogden, and Weber School Districts, Weber State University, Ogden Weber Technical College, and Davis Technical college MarketStar creates a space for students to learn and explore careers in tech sales through internship opportunities that support classroom learning.
Skill Up High School Sales Skills Challenge
The Weber State University High School Sales Skills Challenge is a strategic community growth activity funded by MarketStar Foundation. The program connects high school students with enriched learning experiences that develop sales skills, increase awareness of careers in professional selling and create student experiences that cultivate an affinity to careers in tech sales. Students have the opportunity to compete individually and in teams, where judges can provide feedback and encouragement to students. The Utah High School Sales Skills Challenge will support the newly launched Tech Sales Pathways program in Northern Utah where 16 high schools participate across Davis, Ogden, and Weber School Districts.
Pack the Pantry is part of a student and family resource center committed to fueling student success by providing access to the food and basic necessities students need to succeed. The MarketStar Student Resource Center, created through collaboration with MarketStar Foundation, Ogden School Foundation, and Ogden School District, is available for Ogden students in immediate need of short-term support with school supplies, food, clothing, hygiene, and cleaning items. “When we can provide these basic needs for our students we know that we are giving them a pathway to succeed academically as well for their future” -Kristal Sabaitis, Community Coordinator, Heritage Elementary
In 2018 Weber School District began implementing the Leader in Me program at Roosevelt Elementary school. The Principal was passionate about what the program would do for students and bootstrapped the funding for the curriculum and teacher training. The program showed an immediate impact on student outcomes in the two years with a 34% decrease in student discipline incidents as well as significant increases in School Measureable Results proficiency increase in leadership, culture, and academics. This case study moved the district to increase adoption and with the support of the Weber School Foundation 12 schools began the Leader in Me program implementation. With staffing and funding barriers to expansion, Weber School District was invited to make a proposal to the Dell Loy Hansen Family Foundation and the MarketStar Foundation for support to enable program implementation and growth. With the work and investment from educators and support of Weber School District, the Dell Loy Hansen Family Foundation and the MarketStar Foundation built an expanding education partnership and agreed to a 5-year, $1.26 million commitment to empower the resources needed to continue the implementation, staffing and expansion costs of the Leader in Me program throughout all 29 elementary schools in Weber School District.
